I just got a silver dagger for 50p at a jumble sale good condition no control with it
but a rebound or mutator control will work it.

I am not too sure if they add to the overall speed but the Nmh batts that i use are rated at
2200mah they last about an hour depending on how much i use the turbo function.

Sounds like the ni mh batteries are better. Why not use those more then? Is there any downside?
"Hello IT. Have you tried turning it off and on again? ... OK, well, the button on the side. Is it glowing?... Yeah, you need to turn it on. Err, the button turns it on. Yeah, you do know how a button works, don't you? No, not on clothes." - Roy (The IT Crowd)

theres no down sides as far as i know on ni mh they have no memmory  loss can charge em when ever u feel like and come with higher mah ive seen some 9.6v about that come with 2600mah now i bet they pack a punch where as ni cd ur sopose to only charge them when they are just about loosing power keep the life in them or they wont last as long u will notice after awhile it will run for about 5 min ::) when it used to last about 10mins before i use all packs just to stop them losing there memmory
